The Ancient Dragons
The Ancient Dragons were a great race that have existed since the earliest documented accounts of galactic history, in which their power was described as “almost deific” and their personalities were compared with both loving parents and companion animals.
Information:
If The Book of Truths is to be believed, The Ancient Dragons were the last race to be created by The Grand Creator before it’s death and described them as “Beings that are completely in-tune with the galaxy and can use their connection to accomplish wondrous feats, completely infallible, gloriously powerful, perfect”. While many consider The Ancient Dragons of old to be similar to that of The Great Dragons, Dragon Earls and Dracos of the modern galaxy, the truth is that The Ancient Dragons were much more in favour of caring for beasts and mortals instead of killing, eating or ruling over them. In fact the only example of Ancient Dragon violence within The Book of Truths was during “The War of Shining Stars” where in which they fought alongside The Deus against The Bygones, where they demonstrated their amazing power in increasing more destructive ways.
In terms of appearance, Ancient Dragons differ a lot from their descendants in more ways then one. For instance Ancient Dragons don’t possess wings, instead they “glide on the universe” as most people put it, in addition when an Ancient Dragon does this their body glows their distinctive colour and they are able to achieve speeds not even advanced star ships are capable of. Another way they differ is instead of widespread scales, Ancient Dragons possess a mixture of thick harden scales and soft as well as brushy fur all over their body. Despite them having differences, they also possess similarities. For example every non mortal-made species of Dragon is connected to an element and is able to utilise their element despite their attunnment to the galaxy.
In the modern age, The Ancient Dragons are all extinct with the last known sighting occurring during The Administration Age involving “The Society of Ancients”. While many pin this extinction on, and rightfully so, on Akovire and The Pantheon, they aren’t the sole reason for The Ancient Dragon’s demise. A contributing factor was them fleeing into The Dragon’s Den, while they were had escaped their slaughter at the hands of The Pantheon and were free to live as they chose to, they were cut off from the galaxy and as a result their powers began to drain until, eventually they became The Great Dragons. Despite their extinction many within The Society of Ancients believe only 2 remain, Markarra, The Eternal First Born and Godfrey, The Restless Watcher.
Notable Ancient Dragons:
Markarra, The Eternal First Born- is said to be the most powerful of The Ancient Dragons as well as the first to be born. He is often described as a “scaly flame” that dashed through the galaxy like a shooting star and roar a majestic breath of fire that threatened to engulf the entire galaxy. Despite his powerful, almost deific nature, The Eternal First Born cared for all creatures both great as well as small and never saw violence as a worthy option, however he did realise that some situations did call for it. If The Book of Truths is to be believed, Markarra served alongside The Deus and many of them considered The Eternal First Born their equal, in addition Markarra even played a large role in “The War of Shinning Stars” as he struck down The Bygone Dojuntis which cause those who followed him to cower in fear. Additionally Markarra served as a Collector during the first 320 years of The Collective age.
Godfrey, The Restless Watcher- was Markarra’s second in command and closest friend for a very long time. It is said that the two grew alongside each other constantly play fighting and laughing within the palms of The Grand Creator as it sew and wove the galaxy into form. Godfrey is most often described as a “blinding golden light” with neon orange fur, a long slender tail and eyes blessed with pure cosmic light, in addition Godfrey’s scales are often described as “majestic golden armoured plates that project the very light of the cosmos”. At some point before The Ancient Races even existed, Markarra commanded his best friend to watch over the galaxy for “The End of All Things” so that Godfrey may warn him. While Godfrey did as his best friend commanded, he did return during “The War of Sorrowsome Fates” to aid in the war against Dojuntis and his newly awoken Bygones, however once the war was won both he and Markarra disappeared.
